If you own the Knights of the Nine CD you should check to see which plug-ins it contains so as not to get them separately, but otherwise you should not have problems.īethesda Softworks is a North American company, so it should be noted that their games are first and foremost intended for North American audiences, followed by English-speaking players around the world. This is as opposed to the downloaded version which is just Knights of the Nine. The Knights of the Nine CD comes pre-packaged with some of the Official Plug-Ins. The patches linked to above are not compatible with this version of the game, or other localized versions. You can find more information about what to do if you have the Direct2Drive version on their website. It also comes with the Knights of the Nine Official Plug-in, so you don't need to purchase it separately.
The GOTY Edition comes pre-packaged with the patch, so you do not need to install any additional patches to bring it up to speed. If you have Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Do not install both, you only need the Shivering Isles one.
If you have both of them separately, you will need to install the Shivering Isles version of the patch instead of the Oblivion version. If you have Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Shivering Isles Expansion Make sure to find the proper localization for your version of the game. That aside, you will need to download the Oblivion Patch v.
Well first you should go buy Shivering Isles, if you want the full experience, which you do, if you're here. If you have The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and not Shivering Isles You need to properly patch your game with the Official Patches depending on the version you own. Vista users should be able to use this guide in part, and there will be some notes concerning it, but if you have Vista and follow it to the letter without changing appropriately, I can't help. There should be discrepancy advice available for Vista if there are specific problems at the places of origin. Since I don't have Vista it is not in my ability to tailor the instructions to the unique install method it seems to have. It should be noted that this guide is not intended for users who use Windows Vista. Quite simply, a clean copy of Oblivion is an installation from the disk with no modifications or add-ons.
I also assume you have some knowledge of directories and how to work a computer, as well as access to the internet. Naturally I assume if you're reading this that you own a copy of Oblivion in some way, shape, or form. On the other hand if you play Oblivion and you're looking to install some of the more enterprising modifications, you may have come to the right place(maybe!). If you don't know what Oblivion is, then you probably shouldn't be reading this because it is an entirely unproductive use of your time(though, really, even if you do it could be considered as such). I'm by no means an expert on it, but figured I'd pass on the way I do it anyways so that anyone else who picks up their copy again and doesn't know where to start has a launching point here at the TWC. There's a lot of guides lying around for how to install the setup, and with good reason, because it can be confusing. This guide will hopefully shed some light on installing FCOM with the new Bash Installer (BAIN). And other useful things for the enterprising Oblivion player!Īttention: This guide is incomplete and is not likely to be completed.
